AXA is a global insurance company, and the world’s first insurance brand, with headquarters in France. Its mission is to empower people to live better lives. As part of this mission, AXA employees participate in an annual community week, called Corporate Responsibility Week, which gives everyone a chance to get involved and have an impact on people’s lives for the better. This year, AXA has teamed up with Impact Hub, a global social innovation network, to find one venture anywhere in the world that shares the goal of empowering people to live better lives through risk prevention services with real impact on health and safety.
AXA has launched a program to find one great initiative somewhere in the world that is dedicated to helping reduce risks to people and their property. The winning venture, as selected by AXA employees and their social innovation partner, Impact Hub, can look forward to:

We are looking for interventions that generally fit into any of the following categories:
The George Institute for Global Health in Australia wanted to develop a simple solution that addressed the world’s leading cause of mortality. Chronic disease is responsible for 60% of all deaths (WHO), a statistic that is all the more shocking considering stroke, diabetes, heart disease, chronic respiratory diseases and cancer are among the most preventable health problems. In fact, the majority of chronic disease can be traced back to four modifiable behaviors: tobacco use, excessive alcohol consumption, poor diet, and inactivity (CDC). And while not everyone has access to health coaches or regular doctor visits, the George Institute knew that most people have access to mobile phones.
Their resulting TEXTCARE program maximizes global reach through personalized text messages that help prevent chronic disease and minimize risks to those that suffer from it. Subscribers receive friendly advice encouraging them to lead healthier lifestyles, from suggesting fruit instead of ice cream for dessert to reminding them to take their pill on time. Early research shows that the program can double the chances of participants taking their medications correctly in addition to making them nearly 1.4 times as likely to exercise, 44% more likely to control their blood pressure, and 33% more likely to quit smoking. TEXTCARE was the winner of the 2016 Google Impact Challenge and is now set to scale to China and India.

Our first round of 10-15 contenders will be invited to submit a short video pitch on March 31
On April 14, our expert panel will select 3-5 finalists
AXA employees will vote for their preferred venture during the week of June 5
The winning venture will be announced during the week of June 12
The acceleration program will begin with a 7-day intensive workshop on July 17, followed by three months of support to develop a scaling plan
One entrepreneur from the winning venture will take part in a 7-day accelerator in a European city beginning July 17. Together with experts from AXA and the Impact Hub network, we will tailor a number of modules to help accelerate your initiative. The basic building blocks consist of:
